RUSSIAN state TV has broadcast a deepfake of Ukraine’s top security official appearing to brag about Kyiv’s role in the terrorist massacre at a concert hall in Moscow. The AI-generated …
And this article cites — with direct link — a BBC reporter’s X post. Well, who is actually “making stuff up” here…
Yet, BBC Verify journalist Shayan Sardarizadeh stated that an AI-generated audio was dubbed over a mismatch of two recent Ukrainian TV interviews.
Exposing the sham, he wrote on X: "The deepfake video has in fact been created as a composite of two recent interviews published in the last few days with Danilov and Ukraine’s military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov.
Lemmy lost my full reply, so I’ll just point out that your chart “proving” MBFC has some pro-centralist agenda (news to me) is from a different source and doesn’t agree with MBFC data (e.g. MBFC has the Daily Mail as very right and low accuracy).
But you’ve sparked an idea for an interesting project: use MBFC’s API to create one of these graphs from their own data. Doing a little googling, it seems that scripts and data dumps aren’t hard to come by.

I’ve seen The Grayzone debunk the New York Times’ lies many times, and yet:
Also, in what universe is the neoliberal, anti-labor NYT center-left? And if the Grayzone in the ultraviolet territory, where does that leave the explicitly Communist Monthly Review, outside of MBFC’s Overton window? Surprise, it’s to the right of it:
I can’t see this “news” reported anywhere else and The Sun is notorious for making stuff up. Gonna file this in the ignore bin.edit 2: Mea culpa, I don’t visit rags like The Sun but if I had read this article I’d have seen that they do cite their (credible) source.
Edit: I’m surprised MBFC even gives it as much as “mixed”, but it does mention this:

I think armchair media analyst Dave M. Van Zandt is going on vibes. I don’t think he understands corporate & think tank media. Does he know who Walter Lippman or Edward Bernays were, or what the Council on Foreign Relations (“least biased” 🤡) is or made note of its prominent media members? Does he know about the Powell memorandum or the Trilateral Commission’s report, The Crisis of Democracy?
