There are many women that are not given a choice, not every woman is in a situation where they can act autonomously within a relationship to a man. This antivaxxer was at least a manipulator and very well could have been an abuser or domestic threat to her, so much that she would not go behind his back out of fear. Not everyone has those luxuries, and this woman was clearly one that didn’t have that measure of independence or security to defy and/or leave.
