Can someone explain the strategy here? What is the expected outcome of a push like this?
The strategy is to attempt to force demagogues to actually care about representing the needs of their constituents.
Source: this one guy running for president that basically has “not Trump” and “I don’t listen to my constituents because they’re not really my constituents” as his platform for two straight elections in a row.
So basically “If you don’t stop your shit I will drive this goddamn car off a cliff. Do not test me.” kinda business?
(The above is meant to be a light hearted, jokish way to say what I’m trying to say)
That’s exactly how I’d characterize it. IMO, it was that way for the DNC in 2016 too.
Being light-hearted is my way of smiling through the pain. So, it’s a perfect description, in my opinion. 🙏🏼
Fun stuff… lol. Thanks for the replies!
What a gigantic shot in the foot, months from the election without a clear alternative to Biden…
Undecided voters aren’t influenced by anything as far out as the primaries. There are, however, a large block of angry voters who are tired of holding their noses in the general election, who will absolutely be influenced, badly, by people telling them that now they aren’t even allowed to vote their conscience in the primary.
Do you think this will get those people to vote for Biden more, or less?
If Biden responds by giving at least two shits, then more.
So 50/50 chance this helps Trump. I like them odds
It’s also ironic how their goal is to “save democracy.” If you can’t vote the way you want to without losing that democracy, was it actually a democracy in the first place?
If you just even kinda agree with the above, we should all be furious that Dems are using this opportunity to hold voters hostage while they support genocide. Biden would course correct far faster if the base were as angry as the progressives, and then maybe we could all unite again.
Remember that protest voting in the primary doesnt impact the general election. you can vote against biden in the primary and for him in the general.
