picture of an embroidered strawberry cake

closet up of prervious embroidery

As planned I finished it today, there wasn’t much left to do. I enjoyed pretty much all of the stitching a lot, except the strawberry itself. It’s not too bad but the fishbone stitch with a thick perled cotton over such a small surface wasn’t a good idea.
otherwise I am really surprised about the regularity of my stitches, it looks quite tidy. The point could be pointier and the overall proportions are a bit weird but, oh well.
Also one of the threads on the satin stitch is a bit loose and I am worried if it’s going to holdwith time, this is a shirt that may end up in the wash 😬
The pattern is made up of vibes and internet searches, feel free to steal it.

This is so cute, been watching you stitch it up over on Mastodon and you’ve got me eyeing up all these fancy stitches I still need to learn. Brb looking up what on earth fishbone stitch is lol, gotta add to my notes ✍

The texture on the side of the slice reminds me of knitting!

Here is one of my favourite stitching ressource: https://www.needlenthread.com/videos
If you can do a half decent backstitch then you should try pekinese stitch (the outline of the plate).
The sponge cake is made of bayeux stitch which is really fast to make ! But relies on satin stitch which is deceptively difficult.
The knitted looking one is not quite a detached buttonhole filling, also sometimes detached blanket stitch.
Also used: seed stitch, satin stitch and hungarian braided chain stitch.

Not quite the cherry on top, but I agree, it was a bit empty without it. Let’s just say it’s an organic strawberry 😅
