EA have released a bunch of retro games, including restored Wing Commanders and Ultima ports, on Steam.

Malcolm McDowell, John Rhys-Davies, and Mark Hamil were amazing in Wing Commander IV. Also nice to see Tom Wilson (Biff from Back to the Future) in it.
Gog has at least some of these and they’re sold as works out of the box.
i was stoked to see these. then i couldn’t get them to work on any machine, so refunded. c’est la vie
Where the game runs, Steam will not.
i had these run ok with exult, but that was years ago and on windows
if you want to try, they’re probably still available on GOG, and exult is free https://exult.sourceforge.io/
Not going to give a penny to EA, sorry :)
