There are OVER 500 SPECIES of Sharks alive today.

20 million blue-shark individuals get caught in fishing nets per year. That’s just the numbers caught of one of the most common species.

We can assume there’s likely over 500 million sharks alive today.

The population of New York City? 8.5 million.

We net over twice as many of one species of shark each year, than there are New Yorkers. So New Yorkers are definitely far less common than sharks globally.

Going by state population, we net the same amount of Blue sharks each year as there are people in New York State: 20 million.

With “jokes” like that, it sure as fuck ain’t a comedy show.

P.S All of this, the whole thing, is just the internet. The division we put up are merely fake fences in the garden of communication.

Wait. It’s rare to even See a shark out there? I thought they were like polar bears in that

    • they already know you’re there
    • they can smell you 20 miles out
    • if you even could be tasty, they’re coming to see
    • they can stalk, hunt, kill, and eat you in like 8 minutes
    • there’s a shitload around Churchill

No? If I go snorkeling, I probably won’t even see one?

Now, Humboldt squid, though, scare the absolute fuck out of me. Like, I think I couldlearn to do the shark redirect action. Polar Bear I just look around and also don’t go to Churchill unless I wanna see them - basically, just respect their space. Humboldts have been spotted from Nayarit to Nome, 05-1000ft, and there’s no reasoning with those evil bastard packs, so nope.
