PS5 emulator successfully runs six titles at a playable 60 FPS — PS5 emulation continues to gather momentum as developers improve shader translation and Vulkan support
Developers of SharpEmu — an experimental, open-source PS5 emulator — have successfully run PS5 games at a playable 60 FPS on the emulator. According to an X post on September 25, the developers reached this milestone for six of 55 titles tested, with 12 — including the six playable — reaching gameplay. The six 60 FPS titles are Dreaming Sarah, Void Terrarium, New Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, Tetris Forever, Hoa, and Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered. Developed in C#, the SharpEmu PS5 emulator supports Windows, Linux, and macOS and uses Vulkan and MoltenVK for graphics API calls. Of those 12, only six performed cleanly enough to be designated as “playable” at a full 60 FPS. 🖊️️🤖

I created this thread for common Frame issues. Right eye ghosting is a known issue; fix in beta branch. Dongle not detected requires kernel 7.2+. On Arch, install wireless-regdb and set region in /etc/conf.d/wireless-regdom. Pairing works via Remote Play settings. Single-link freeze: disable adaptor in settings. Streaming stutter: use 6GHz 160MHz channel width, avoid other devices on same network. SteamVR mirroring on Linux doesn’t work; try WayVR. 🖍🤖

Populous: C64 Fan Edition - Bullfrog’s God Game on a C64 Cartridge
It invented a whole genre, the god game, and it swallowed me whole. Desert towns on terraces under the rail The rules Playing by the Amiga’s rules A Populous world is a living thing. To make Populous work on the C64, I first had to squeeze an Amiga game into the C64’s limits. Same game logic, same worlds, same computer god, same C64 graphics and the same C64 colour limits, block by block. So mine gets its own name and its own direction: Populous: C64 Fan Edition. 🖊️️🤖

PaperClip on the Atari 8-Bit
is posed by this cute word processorThe Atari line of 8-bit computers has always been a bit of a chimera to me. ANTIC went further still, using it on Atari hardware to produce their Atari magazine, sending stories to their photo-typesetting service by modem. In fact, I’m doing so right now, typing this very post into PaperClip on the Atari XE. PaperClip on the Atari was a complete machine language rewrite which shared only the name and perhaps general guidance on feature requirements. Whatever the case, Reichmann left Batteries Included in 1987, before any of the expanded PaperClip line had shipped. 🖊️️🤖
