OK I’m confused. Is this a way for her to bait out her sexuality to “make a move” first, or she’s being strung along by a straight, or she’s oblivious. I can’t make out what exactly we’re dealing with here.

It’s a guy becoming close to a girl only to find out she only got close because she thought he was gay.

that’s the point, it’s all about plausible deniability. if you were able to make out what you were dealing with then you’d be able to hold her accountable for her actions/assumptions, or you could reject her. both of which you can’t do if you keep everything vague and act oblivious.

but also, people are stupid idiots. lots of people have assumed I am gay, men and women both. even women i’ve dated have asked me if i was bi or closeted gay… always straight people. gay people don’t think I’m gay, they think I’m ‘painfully straight’.

most folks make judgements about you, and never in a million years think to ask you if it’s true. other things people have assumed about me: jewish, jock, straightedge, military, blueblood, etc. All of completely wrong, and when you correct them they tend to get pissed at you, like I’m pissing them off by not being what they assumed I was.

Years ago, I had a business with a partner, and after we’d been working together for a few years, I mentioned my wife to a client, and they said “You’re married? I thought you were gay!”

“Why would you think I’m gay?”

“Well, you and him are ‘partners,’ I thought that meant you were a couple.”

“No, BUSINESS partners! We have a business together! And if I was gay, I could do a LOT better than HIM!”

This was my younger years and it worked. That look on their face when the realize your not gay but just very open minded.

I don’t make a move because she’s not hot as hell, she’s like mid at best but has a nice personality.

And I kind of would rather we just be friends, because girls who are friends are way nicer to you and often more fun than girlfriends.
