Domino’s Pizza and Cadbury have been blasted by a former health minister after they teamed up to make a Domino’s cookie that contains a whole Creme Egg.

Conservative Lord Bethell of Romford posted scathing tweets about the controversial cookie, which Domino’s announced for the first time on Thursday.

“This is disgusting,” said Lord Bethell.

“These are serious corporate food companies. What are they thinking,” he continued.

“The executive team, the board and the shareholders should be ashamed of themselves.”

In his second tweet, he reiterated that the team behind the controversial cookie, which are available in Domino’s stores from Monday, should be “ashamed” and added they should use their talents to find less “egregious” ways to make a return.

Why does this article just comment on the outrage and doesn’t discuss why all these individuals are outraged? I take it from context clues that it’s because this new cookie has far too many calories in it, but it just seems like lazy reporting to not get a quote that speaks to that.

Given that crème eggs have been trash for a long time now it’s more likely that they’re offended by the ruining of a Domino’s cookie.

Terrible fondent centre, the worst chocolate from a brand name available in the UK.

As former health minister I suppose he has to speak up about the idea of taking a treat that’s already so sugary that it feels like it is giving you diabetes as you are scoffing it, and then baking it in cookie. Then again, he should probably avoid turning it into an unfocused rant.

In NY some businesses have to put a little /!\ icon next to any single serving item containing more than your daily recommended sodium, almost every single serving item on Domino’s menu has this icon.

    Everything in moderation, including moderation.

Did you guys seen the new (US) team-ups from Subway? Footlong cookie, footlong churro (Cinnabon), and footlong pretzel Aunt Anne’s). Idk, might be more egregious.

Also, yes it’s disgusting but imagine a government official going on record being mad about a cookie.

      Death by food!

He’s, technically, a former minister but, as he’s in the House of Lords, he still has some say over British laws.

        Death by food!

Honestly, it’s an American past time by now! There are even local places that are like “if you can finish our 100lb cheeseburger topped with onion rings, potato chips, and mayonnaise, you get it for free!” Almost like they’re challenging you to die by food.

That may have been an exaggeration, but only regarding the weight of the burger.

The Heart Attack Grill in Vegas often features in British TV shows that are basically just someone pointing at the wild excesses of American dining and shaking their heads.

I just wish more places did the 12 foot braided subs. I always wanted one of those…

Edit: it may have only been 6 foot, and tbh I’m not even sure how they fit that in the ovens. They do still exist, though, somewhere. They literally get the raw dough and braid them together to make a really long sub.

Edit2: Apparently in the UK they only do platters. Boooooooooo!

      Edit3: This is how they’re made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQVgo2RImic

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Conservative Lord Bethell of Romford posted scathing tweets about the controversial cookie, which Domino’s announced for the first time on Thursday.

In his second tweet, he reiterated that the team behind the controversial cookie, which are available in Domino’s stores from Monday, should be “ashamed” and added they should use their talents to find less “egregious” ways to make a return.

“It is a total abdication of responsibility, you are curators of two of the biggest food brands in the country,” he added.

In a statement, they added: "These special edition cookies bring together two much loved, iconic brands and are designed to be a delicious pre-Easter treat which can be shared.

"At just over 370 calories per cookie, they are in line with the content of many other treats available on the high street such as frappes and croissants.
