One of my favourites is MasterChef. The cooks actually make several dishes. 1 is immediately tasted, 1 is purely for close-up shots. The last is for extra material. They need more from the judges, or cover for issues. They often have to do a reshoot, only with cold food. They need to act like it’s the fresh dish they dried previously.
You can tell his in some shows. They are remarkably dainty in their mouthfuls, despite raving about it.
Very little food is wasted in shows like that. The camera crew etc happily make short work of it.
