Four out of five Canadians say they have no confidence in the U.S. under President Donald Trump’s leadership, with existing tensions expected to be exacerbated by latest tariffs
Prior to all this we honestly never really liked you, we tolerated you
Join the line. Who beside Israelis and Americans ever liked Americans so broadly?
Plenty of western nations liked quite a few things about America, hence the toleration. That toleration is rightfully dwindling across the globe.
we were polite about it.
Every countryman ought foremost be concerned with their own politics, in my opinion. If you’re tolerant, it makes sense to be polite. Especially if you’re not a Canadian activist for America, which is just an odd thing to be (per my first sentence).
Be impolite. If something is negatively impacting you, say something. Canadians, and others, are finally doing that—great.
But make no mistake we constantly mocked you, constantly called you idiots, even when I was a kid in the 80s those feelings towards americans were there.
As did Americans themselves. Hubris, ignorance, bliss, abundance of wealth and recognition, or rather “success.” The freedom to liberty (period). That has been the American dream for which Americans and American immigrants have strove, for decades now.
Western nations alike have turned a blind eye to American imperialism for an equal length of time. So long as bonds remain good as gold, military strong to secure resources, defend trade, and just the slightest posturing of benevolence — nobody gave a shit because giving a shit meant disrupting the power structures which secured themselves as well as the US.
It’s just hilarious that americans are all “omg the Canadians hate us NOW”
It’s a valid assessment. Canada isn’t tolerating them anymore. Using the “hate” word is just their poor ability to be precise with their language. It’s an emotional response. They fail to see the change as a side effect of their own deeply polarized culture. It’s more like when someone has bananas in their ears, and another shouts “WHY DO YOU HAVE BANANAS IN YOUR EARS,” to which they reply: “WHAT? I CANT HEAR YOU. I HAVE BANANAS IN MY EARS.”
no buddy, we always have but now we feel comfortable enough to say it to your faces.
Good.
Fix your shit, we’ve been BEGGING you to fix your shit for decades.
That would be something. It’s not going to happen so long as they continue misidentifying the roots of their issues. They’re hyperfocused on their Nazis right now, as opposed to why they have Nazis in the first place.
I especially hate when americans go online and are all “we’re sorry” oh fuck off. you elected this clown twice, I don’t fucking want your apology bud.
Yeah. The apologizing is cringe. They could meaningfully apologize via the gun rights they love to tout, perhaps by using them in places more appropriate their own elementary schools. What am I kidding, though.
The apologizing seriously comes off like, “I know I did nothing to help the situation, but let me now stand up on this soap box so I can continue to do nothing.”
I don’t really know why I replied to you. I think I was slightly offended by what you said. At the same time though, I’m not. I also want to make fun of Americans.
