A better questions is, why the fuck do so many people want to go to the same country that’s responsible for fucking theirs up so bad, that they don’t want to live there anymore? It’s like Stockholm syndrome.

Because they’re just trying to survive and provide for their family, and don’t spend all their time on the internet making memes about the socioeconomic impacts of foreign government agencies?

for a long time america has been portrayed as the shining beacon of freedom, democracy, and opportunity. it was also a country where some amount of (white) people working one job per family got to live comfortably for a while. wouldn’t surprise me if despite all the horrors of imperialism some people still think american life is good.

America fucked them over and used all their wealth to become one of the best places to live. If anything it’s kind of their birth right.

People go where resources are concentrated / hoarded. It makes sense to go to where the fruits of your exploited labor ended up.

But think of all the money they made in those 40 years. And the ones who made that money are not in neighborhoods with a lot of immigrants, except to clean the pool or mow the lawn.

Why is the US/CIA depicted as suffering, didn’t they get everything they wanted?

Control over foreign countries, cheap produce and exploitable workforces that they can demonize for their political agenda?

I know this meme is for more recent events, but Operation Condor fucked up the entirety of South America. And americans are being heavily influenced to “akshually nazis went to Argentina to hide after wwII” as if it wasn’t their fault

      Operation Condor

      sigh

      here we go again

Operation Condor also had the covert support of the US government. Washington provided Condor with military intelligence and training, financial assistance, advanced computers, sophisticated tracking technology, and access to the continental telecommunications system housed in the Panama Canal Zone.

in 1977 intelligence agencies from Britain, France and West Germany looked into using the tactics employed in Operation Condor against leftwing “subversives” in their own countries
