Been chatting to the cousin on messenger.

Mixed feelings. That side of the family were, let’s say, less than supportive after my mum passed away.

But he needs help, being in a country by yourself can be tricky without support.

I wish you all the best of luck.

You are both so brave too. 😘

( do not recommend being in a country on your own. It’s pretty awful when you literally have no next of kin to put on forms 😔)

        Cheers :)

Yeah it makes things harder. I don’t have a wife and kids to worry about so my experience will be different to his.

He’s in Sydney so I’m heading over in a few weeks. I haven’t been so it’ll be cool to see a new city.

Sounds like he’s not actually moving into your house with you. That may make things a bit easier. Also Sydney is very different from Melb in the small details. Open communication lines may be the best way to help navigate a relationship. Best of luck!

            Appreciate it :)

If I can be up front, I think there’s definitely a degree of envy on my part because he had the family around him to help.

            But that’ll pass.
