I’m really unsure how I feel about being able to choose what side of a belt an inserter drops on

Yeah it’s a bit weird because it has been this way for so long. But we’ll probably get used to it within a week of playing. I’m excited for all the new builds that are possible!

I’ve been using mods that bestow this ability for a while. It’s honestly phenomenal. It makes even more compact builds possible.

I love it. No more spaghetti to get a full belt out of trains. Still always the close far side of the belt which is good.

      Dev post on the forum:

Just be aware that choosing works only in places where there is ambiguity due to belt being perpendicular. Those cases were the cause of problems for blueprint flip reliability.

      So there’s limits to it.

Well it’s still the far side when applicable, and the left / right side dropping has always been a coin toss (for my memory, anyway), so this is a welcome change.

Yeah I definitely have a few places where I’m in danger of breaking my factory if I press the wrong key while an inserter is highlighted. But overall the flexibility is good I think.
