    I do think that’s a good idea. If we are able to bring democracy to the us, people (albiet filtered through the government) would have some distant leverage over these tools which are at their heart about concentrating power in fewer and fewer hands.

    I don’t like AI, i don’t have a reason to use it, but there are use cases and it’s not going away. Tearing it out of the iron grasp of tech oligarchs may best we can achieve for now.

      The only thing I like about the “own half” idea is that it calls the LLM bluff. “You’re going to replace all labour? Time for eminent domain.” Which will, I feel certain inevitably lead to that not happening when private capital realises they’re not going to own all of society with their shitty little word-spewer machine. They’ll cut bait and move on to ruining something else and we’ll own half of who gives a shit.

    His argument seems solid, but considering that AI companies did intelectual robbery on a global scale and he only wants to give back to american citizens, its still not actually just or fair from a global perspeczive
