Are they going to hand it to Euro Corps instead? Because that’s not an improvement, it’s simply swapping the side.

i mean its a bit of an improvement. If the US keeps sliding into authoritarianism and obviously sponsoring anti-european agitation we should probably stop feeding them money and data.

Mass asset sell-offs by these governments in the 80s to make boomers into petit bourgeoisie to flex on the soviets hasn’t exactly left them flush with cash or assets.

On top of that, the boomers now in charge hardly have the political will to even try to build anything in-house with existing free and/or open source software because they’re under the impression that privatization will work again because it did for them.

They can’t or don’t want to realize that the trick only works once and it inevitably creates an oligarchy that can and will outsizeably influence the country’s politics, which inevitably leads to some guy who is able to ride a grievance wave during elections right into office where he becomes president, gathers enough influence from the oligarchs to purge the disloyals and consolidate power, creating a fascist state - a union of corporate and government power against the people like what happened in Russia and whats slowly happening in the US.
