I met up with this guy who I met on social media, I assumed he knew I’m trans because it’s all over my profile.

Well imagine my face when he asks if I’m taking the pill. So I had to stop him there and tell him that I’m trans.

Good thing he didn’t mind, but it was such an embarrassing moment at first because I was like “what pill are you talking about?” 😭

Just a quick note here, it’s a good idea to tell those you are dating that you are trans in a safe place. I had a cis guy tell me that he dumped his mtf date on the side of the road when he realized that she was trans while they were making out. Make sure that your date knows before you get physical! Stay safe, friend

Is it really more accepted in other countries? Let’s say outside of south east Asia.

I dont know about other countries but the “gay panic defense” is terrifying

Dont read the spoiler if you dont wanna know

          spoiler

The gay panic defense has been accepted as a legal defense in at least a couple states, with most other states not addressing it or not having it come up yet. Its a defense to murder. Essentially boils down to person A is trans (or gay, or some other lgbt flavor) and person B is not and also doesnt know person A is. Date ensues, go back to either persons house, make out yada yada. Then person B finds out while undressing that person A is trans. Person B freaks out, and murders person A. Person B claims “gay panic” saying that the shock of finding out sent person B into a temporary insanity/psychosis and that theyre not responsible for what happened.

While this defense isnt used terribly often nowadays, it still allowed in several states (or hasnt been banned). Read more here or on wikipedia

Yeah the US isn’t great. But I imagine things are even worse in like Latin American countries where machismo and/or Catholicism is a big thing. Or African and middle eastern countries where being gay is enough to get you stoned to death. Some of those countries might not even investigate, thus not even having a “defense.”

Yeah I’ve learned to be very direct about it since some people seem not to read profiles at all. I hate dating apps, but it seems like there aren’t many other options to meet new people these days, especially if you aren’t really into the bar scene.
