The book that quote comes from, The Dawn of Everything, blew my fucking mind
Mostly because public schooling packed mud & bullshit into every available crevice in your budding brain meat. 🤌🏼 Good on ya for shaking off the sheeple plaster.
Ok Foucault… The book goes pretty heavily into how it’s a culture wide mythology that often carries reasonable assumptions until the archeological and anthropological evidence are looked at. Hell the assumptions predate the public school system. And the author was an academic in the public system
Sorry, the “modern” public school system designed to train youth into the workforce vs. actually educate them. 🤌🏼
It’s this way for everything. It’s not which culture actually discovered something first but which culture had the systems to be remembered.
Columbus gets the credit for the first European to discover America even though Vikings did it first. Because Vikings didn’t have the educational systems to carry that knowledge into the future.
Greeks get credit for so much because of their educational systems where knowledge was written and maintained in libraries.
Yeah that’s a major theme of the book this quote comes from.
