it means that after the timer runs out, players won’t be able to play the game again until they connect their console online, so it can perform a validation check.
archaic bullshit. glad i got a steam deck.
With Xbox effectively dead Sony and Valve will be able to get away with much more anti-consumer behaviour unfortunately. Valve releasing a €100 controller with no Xinput/Dinput fallback is just one more sign of things to come. Everyone’s about to moat their castles :/
Sorry, you are probably right it is just a matter of time until Valve turns as well, but the controller pricing is certainly a farfetched example of this.
Sony basically screws over all their customers and the only choice they really have is not to play on Playstation anymore. For the Steam Controller you can absolutely decide to just buy a different one that is cheaper, only if you want trackpads you’ll be locked in to the purchase.
At this point Valve has enough control that ranting about Steam Input only controller is admittedly a lost cause but it’s just one more thing in pattern of behaviour that shows what Valve are actually doing. PC gamers are selling their skin too cheap, should try being critical of their platform of choice because that’s how you get platform owner to try to appease you :)
That’s because valve created tier own controller api. They don’t need microsofts anymore. That’s a good thing. They still support every controller known to man.
The issue is that they are behaving as if they were the only way to play games on PC, which is ever increasingly looking like a monopoly. They’re getting away with it because they’re a monopoly already and they can do things like more vendor lock-in. Even Sony provides a Direct Input mode for DualShock/Sense on Windows. You’d expect more from a supposedly gamer friendly company taking 30% cut of nearly all PC game sales.
You know you can play most steam games right from the exe right? The 30% is industry standard and is such a dead horse it’s ridiculous to continue beating it
You care far more than i do about steam, that’s for sure lol
I
ownlicense ~800 games on Steam, of course I care.Them you should know the things you’re complaining about is ridiculous.
I’m not entirely opposed to PC becoming an Android-like platform but I think PC gamers should demand more in return from Valve. Other companies that are in the business of taking 30% cut on game sales give much more in return - things like hardware subsidies or being able to resell your physical copies of games. Valve paying salaries of a couple of Linux devs sounds like getting goodwill for tax evasion by doing charity PR stunts.
