On a related note, the donation jars and when they ask you to round up to donate at the till end up as a tax deduction for those big corpos. They’re taking your money and donating it in their name, which they then deduct from their taxes.

Nope. This is fake news. All it does for them is win them good PR, and help them direct which charities money is going to. But there is no direct financial benefit in it. They are legally obligated to just pass the money through to the charity they said it would go to.
And there can’t be any benefit in using it as a deduction. Anyone claiming they can has obviously not put any thought into it. In the best case interpretation towards this, if you donate $2 through this method, they gain $2 in income, donate $2, and then deduct that $2 donation. That just means they don’t pay tax on that $2. It’s net financially neutral.
This. It isn’t tax bullshit, it’s marketing bullshit.
They can run a PR campaign telling everyone that they donated money to charity and just gloss over the part where they donated your money to charity and didn’t give anything themselves.
PSA: Look up a Free Store in your area to volunteer at if you are feeling purposeless or like life doesn’t matter. There are a lot of people with left adjacent views who you can create community with at them.

People in my region (US Gulf South) have abysmally low class consciousness, especially in these podunk towns out in the middle of bumfuck . These people are scared of their own shadow.
Yep, and the secret majority of them are on one form of assistance or another. (statistically, for that area) The specific brand of mouthbreathers that the US pulps into being are going to be key to the species’ dissolution.
The real question we should be asking ourselves is: Y’all doing popcorn or s’mores for the end of the world? I presume the latter’d be best closest to the flashpoints, but popcorn’s tough to beat, across many demographics. 🤔🤷🏼♂️
