Your trying to clear your mind, perhaps enjoy some relaxing music on low over your head phones, sip a coffee nursing a hangover or a catch a quick cat nap on a train or bus or wherever you are…. And you hear it. An invasive sound so unbelievably annoying it can’t be ignored or escaped, it’s somebody else’s phone and they are watching a video with the volume turned up too loud.

There are levels to this audio atrocity that we will now explore.

Why the hell do you have a $1000 iphone but can’t afford a headset? The math isn’t mathing and I’m tired of asking. Go to five and below or some random store and buy a pair you fake broke bitch.

How come anyone asks you if you have a headset you either left it at home or it’s not charged? You need to get your shit together and have your electronics on you and charged. The next guy that forgot to charge his headset case, i will electrcute them to death out of principle.

This isn’t a rant, it’s a public service announcement. No one wants to hear your screeching Karen videos, your hood guy says mildy retarded dumb shit video, your laughing reaction meme video to some dumb situation caught on video. Stop the madness!

Don’t even get me STARTED on the guy playing music no one is trying to hear. Hey buddy, your music taste sucks ass and i hope the artist dies in a fiery plane crash.

Don’t laugh at the video and glance over like I’m supposed to ask. With any luck your phone will die, or maybe you will and then I’ll have something to laugh about.

    Public transportation: doubly so.

When I stopped framing this as a moral issue and more as an adaptation pressure it got way easier: sound muffs. The investment is worth your mental health. Then the only trouble becomes in Summer with the competing pressures of heat + noise. In-ear plugs don’t give the same dB reduction as the bigguns as far as I’ve found.

It’s more like cultural issue of not adapting to certain cultures. Go to south america for eg. and you’ll notice there is so much more noise than in western countries. Train in japan is more silent than in the west. I think the west should adapt the japanese culture of respect and “ban” loud music in public transport. Everyone who does it should be shamed. Also the ear plugs can cause ear infections to some so it’s not ideal.

      This is the answer.

We only have control over ourselves. If environmental noise bothers you, then you need to do something to block the noise, and/or change your mind set that precipitates the rage. You’ll never get relief by raging at other people to change.

Time for me to be the contrarian in this debate. All great points, just a rant is all. Just a little funny unhinged post is all, yet at the same time… i apologize to no one because no one got hurt. Also, I reject the idea of not telling people they are being annoying. I would rather tell you straight to your face that you’re being annoying in a nice way or at least a straight forward banner, instead of holding it in and developing some weird, passive aggressive feeling towards the person. Also, if we are being honest, playing music or videos loudly enough for everyone to hear is essentially a form of expression, and you should be prepared for when people express you in return that they don’t like it. In my opinion, it’s 2026 and we should make it part of the social contract that headphones be mandatory or you risk public scrutiny and being tarred nd feathered. 🤣🤣🤣 anyways I hope you enjoyed my sarcasm
