In most regards, anything “typical for East Germany” doesn’t apply too much to Berlin. Also any larger German city tends to be left-leaning, even in East Germany. I don’t think you will easily end up in a far right (AfD) hotspot, unless you intend on going to rural areas.

Larger cities are however dirtier and more expensive. But it you want to go smaller, look for something with at last a few job opportunities and preferably an existing, “organized” LGBTQ+ community.

In East Germany you’ll at least find russian speaking people more easily (though likely >50yo and Ukrainians), if that’s a concern.

Studying in English is possible. I think German language classes are offered for free? Germany has welfare, but the government loves to (illegally) limit support below what’s legally considered a minimum income for a life in dignity. So expect having to struggle to make ends meet.

I don’t know about how easy it is for immigrants to get medical support, sadly. Hopefully someone else can answer that.

Berlin and Hamburg is cool and rsther left leaning and open for queer abd trans people generally. But saying i want to live in berlin is a bit lile saying i want to live in new york city. Rent and even finding something is pretty harsh

Well it depends on the region but in general the self identity law is super awesome. I live in a small (<18000) city and the mood generally for me is very accepting, from colleagues to the ladies at the drug store, everyone seems to be cool with me as a woman and I never got any hateful comments… You have to teach some older people about pronouns or what maybe not to say but even they don’t seem to mean on purpose, they just don’t know better…

My psychotherapist is a trans man himself, I love him…

And yeah there are wait times for therapies or surgeries or hormone treatments but I found it manageable personally and a lot of stuff is even covered by insurance so I don’t have to pay for my hrt

Generally I’d say I feel free to be myself here in this city but I guess there are parts of Germany where the opposite can be true sadly

Do you mean physically leaving the country, or finding a place to stay / get a visa? Regarding the first: I heard you can get anywhere when first flying to India.

just living in ANY country that more FREE than russia where i dont need fuck for internet paying 40 eur for a month and its even increases (to upgrade DPI definitly), pay for VPS 5 eur/month for a VPN, fucking with zapret configuration

where ppl dont say “GOYDA we are going to war”

where i dont see war propaganda at every corner

armenia is non visa and im think is easy get resident card, also serbia but fuck vuvich

yes true for india fact, everywhere is ok where no dictatorship

i rly sad for indians and nazis thinks that they shouldn’t deserve a better live

atleast easy to get hrt is number 1 criteria and in most east europe is less controlled that in western (prescription for everything since we have prescribtion for psychoactives only)

tbh, militarisation, war mongering and propaganda are an issue in many western bloc countries, too (incl. Germany). You might also want to consider avoiding any country that’s actively preparing for a war against Russia. I hope you can find some place quiet.

really true, because rusophobia is insane in some countries such as czechia, poland, baltic countries which makes hard even to get visa and its get strict more idk about germany but would be funny if i get harrasment not because queerness but about nationality

georgia is a little bit tight because of pro-russian politics plus lgbt-propaganda law

idk romania - EU countries anyway have protections from discrimination and i also know girl who getting hrt OTC and cheap bloodtests also w/o doctors, but i think its also very bad choice because too close to ukraine

serbia - have discrimination protections, russian-friendly but idk have conflicts with kosovo

kazakhstan - would be very cool if they didnt made LGBT-propaganda law
