For anyone from the Americas who thought they’ve seen these little guys before, Gasteracanta cancriformus is probably the cousin of OP’s orb weaver spider that you’re familiar with.
We had tons of those in my backyard growing up in South Florida.

I talk about these guys and the banana spiders a lot! Banana spiders were so cool.
Banana spiders are terrifying looking. Almost crashed once because one was crawling on the roof of my car (on the inside)
That’s immediately what I thought of. I remember these from the woods when I was a kid.
That’s the coolest fucking spider in the universe.
