It would be nice to have log in with codeberg since many of us use privacy respecting services it would be a good SSO option
I’ve seen you commenting quite a lot recently, and just to make sure: you are aware that Piefed is only developed by a few people, and that their efforts and time are limited?
There are still key features like username and communities autocompletion that couldn’t be created for 1.2 (https://codeberg.org/rimu/pyfedi/projects/19472), and there are other that are also higher priority which have been added to 1.3 (https://codeberg.org/rimu/pyfedi/projects/20953)
Enthusiasm is always good to see, but there are only so many things the small dev team can work on
Yes I am aware, I didn’t say It has to be implemented now it can be saved in a backlog for later.
As discussed on another post, please create an issue on https://codeberg.org/rimu/pyfedi/issues
This allows other people to see previous suggestions and add to them, and facilitates keeping track of those suggestions
Isn’t the issue tracker for the software, I am aware of the codeberg, but I thought this would fit the instance more but good to know I am wrong
I might be wrong, but my understanding is that for Piefed.social the instance to be able to offer Codeberg SSO, this needs to be an option in Piefed the software. At the moment only Google is an option.
Got it, so I thought SSO was a streamlined protocol, and you could set SSO options as a piefed instance admin and not a per website implementation thing good to know thank you
Yes it would be up to the instance to configure SSO for themselves but also PieFed the software needs to have some extra code added to support Codeberg.
We already have SSO integrations with 3 other services so adding another would mostly be a copy and paste job - pretty easy. However, codeberg… Surely there is another, more popular, privacy-respecting SSO provider? Codeberg is super niche.
tailscale has a list might have some privacy respecting ones in there https://tailscale.com/kb/1240/sso-custom-oidc#additional-provider-configurations
