Considering the series is all about loss, grief, and Frieren learning to appreciate those around her before it’s too late, I think a reunion with Himmel is too good to be true.

When Frieren found Flamme’s notes, they were already open to the page about Heaven. That’s actually super susicious. I think Flamme set this up to teach her a lesson, knowing Frieren would someday lose someone special to her and go looking for this.

They’re going to make it to Aureole and find nothing there. Then we’ll timeskip ahead and see Frieren spending as much time as possible with Fern and Stark, up until their inevitable deaths, vowing not to make the same mistake she did with Himmel.

The last shot will be Frieren paying respects at Fern’s grave. Roll credits.

i could definitely see it. but i also think there’s any number of possibilities for what’s at aureole besides the literal land of the dead.

and by reunion ofc i mean in her own death. sacrificing her life for the people close to her is still pretty on-theme without bookending the series in gut punches. the fall of elves and rise of man is another major theme that i don’t think fits with frieren surviving the story.

She’s actually off wandering the continent with a new party: a swordswoman with a six-pack and purple hair and a redheaded goth wizard.
