I previously hacked together an Ikea sensor which worked well for the price, but was not weatherproof, and my solution caused the temperatures to be very inaccurate.

I’m looking for something that can be used offline (connects to HA via WiFi, Zigbee, etc but does not need WAN access) and is plug and play. I see some solutions like this, but am not sure if they will work in an ‘offline’ mode. Anyone have any suggestions? Something with wind speed, etc would be awesome.

I’m using a WH2650A weather station, and I believe it does not need an internet connection to work at all, and I have been able to connect it to HA locally.

Not certain it fits your requirements but I have an Ambient Weather 2904A weather station that doesn’t require WAN (unless you wish for the features available on the Ambient Weather site) and there is an Ambient Weather Station plugin for HA that provides all measurements of the station as entities directly in HA.

Oh, and the connection twixt Station Base and HA is WIFI.

Had this for several (many) years, 2904A likely not still available but certainly you can find a comparable current model. In fact, model 2902 appears to be an exact duplicate of what I have…

I use an acurite 06002RM temperature and humidity sensor with a rtl 433 compatible receiver plugged into home assistant and an rtl2mqtt add on. It’s indoor/outdoor and has worked well for all sorts of weather. Combined with a sun shade and it’s a good solution I think, and completely local.

    I like my tempest. https://shop.tempest.earth/products/tempest

3d printed bracket screwed into my block wall fence. And some pvc pipe. Comes with a pipe bracket and the tempest just sits right on top of it. Isn’t a bulky eyesore to piss off the neighbors (I live in an HOA). Haven’t had any issues with it in HA since I bought it in 2023

And it’s an offline integration too… The station broadcasts and HA can grab it with the weatherflow integration. If you let it reach the internet though, it can feed the big maps… and you can see all sorts of info on that map.

Edit: Here’s a screenshot of everything that’s exposed as far as sensors go…

Look into ecowitt. I only have the ground humidity sensors, but they work well with HA.

I agree with Ambient Weather. Spend as much as you’re comfortable with. Make sure it has a WiFi base station. I’m using this integration installed through HACS. It’s solid.
