I’m also thinking of SAC 2045, which I’ve tried to like, I’ve even watched it twice now. And I don’t want to drag it down too much because some people did enjoy it and we’re all allowed to enjoy what we want. But I honestly chalk the fact that it felt kinda dumbed down a bit (compared to the OG Stand Alone Complex, that is) and had the USA crammed into it so much to Netflix’s involvement.
Especially ever since the Witcher debacle where the showrunners mentioned intentionally dumbing it down, or hearing about how Netflix strives to make content for people who are browsing on their phones at the same time, I would never 100% trust them with something like Ghost in the Shell.
For sure. Netflix makes content. That’s what they’re good at. Not making quality TV or stories. But they are the current kings of making “that show you put on in the background while you do something else”.
