I’m trying to get through Voyager again, and Trek writing really took a nose dive after Deep Space 9. Not that TNG or DS9 were perfect or anything, far from it, but Voyager just doesn’t seem to earn any of its emotional moments like those that made TNG and DS9 great.

It feels like they shot all of season 1 at the same time, and then just shuffled the episode order or something. After the premiere, everyone is slotted neatly in their places. There’s a little bit about Torres having to earn her keep as head engineer, but that’s it. Everyone just automatically accepted Chakotay as first officer. There’s talk of Maquis and Federation conflict in the crew, but we don’t see any.

They seem determined to focus on Neelix and Kess who are quite possibly the blandest pairing ever conceived in Trek. It’s just all so mediocre compared to the last couple of seasons of DS9 which were legitimately great. It’s taking me forever to get through season 1 because I’m just not motivated to watch it at all anymore.

I thought I liked it more than this, but I guess it has been a few years since the last time I watched it.

It has its up and downs. The show goes off the rocker sometimes and that’s somewhat interesting. Over the seasons, they chill out and become more of a straightforward Star Trek, for better or worse

Boy do I have a few:

Heroes. The first season was great, but then they tried to continue it through the writers’ strike.

They really didn’t need to do the last season of Scrubs.

Apparently the order of episodes for The Dresden Files got rearranged at some point during production, at the suggestion of someone higher up. While the show is really not a faithful adaptation of the book series, it could’ve been a fun thing on its own, if done right.

The end of True Blood wasn’t great. As well as the Magicians.

The Iron Fist show really struggled in the first season, but it was getting really good by the end of the second season and I was really disappointed by all of the Marvel Netflix shows getting cancelled. Yay for Daredevil coming back!

Inhumans was very disappointing. I’d really like someone to give another shot at that.

Heroes problem was executive meddling. The initial idea was to have each season be part of an anthology but the suits pushed for a continuation of the Silar/Petrelli storylines

“For All Mankind” [Apple+] has a worker on a Mars base smuggling Martian minerals home. The base is supposed to have KGB and FBI agents embedded in the work crews, plus the Mars stones are being sold openly on Earth. No way would that have happened like that.

Foundation Season 1 (haven’t watched season 2) ; halfway through the show it starts being either a parody, or a complete misread on Asimov’s message

If you mentally separate it into its own thing, it’s not all that bad.

But as an adaptation of Asimov’s Foundation Series? It may be the worst adaptation I’ve ever seen. Its more accurate to say it’s inspired by Foundation.

For instance, for me: Although I wasn’t completely disappointed, Severance S02 for me broadly went in a direction I didn’t expect. I had multiple thoughts about how it would proceed and what plot threads would be pulled on that it just didn’t do.

I also would have wrote the history of certain characters differently.

I think The Sopranos could have written the last season so we get more theories for who did it in the ending. It’s basically only Paulie or “some NY guy” and that’s it

I just started watching High Potential. It’s a police procedural, which I don’t care for #acab, but my mom likes them and this one has some qualities that make it watchable. There have been a few frustrations, but the most egregious so far is this:

Mother reports missing girls. Police captain insists they can’t put out an amber alert until it’s been 24 hours. In this, the year of our lord 2025, they decided to roll out that exhausted and dangerously incorrect trope. They even make comments later in the episode about how every minute counts toward finding them alive. I mean.

The Prisoner was pretty unexpected through most of its episodes if you want a good surreal retro spy type show

NUTREK, they definitely need to be rewritten, and not by kurtzman or anyone that writes like him, also stop trying to use nostalgia arcs to reel in audiences, its cheap and its annoying and stop trying to virtue signal political issues, your not helping the real issues, and de-legitimizes overtime. actors/hollywood should stay out of politics(we know some of you actors are just virtue signalling for your own pr).

stargate universe, it was doomed the moment almost everyone hated the first season.

Honestly? Most shows drop in quality after season one.

One of the few shows to pleasantly surprise me was Black Sails, season 2 just went places in a way that most shows don’t

also even if they are good after s1, the show shouldnt last more than 5 seasons, after that it just gets boring(except for scifi)
