I still don’t underatand how woke is perceived as bad. To me, out of any context woke means you’re waking up, leaving the dream behind and facing reality. Like in the Matrix (except IRL the red pill keeps you in the dream). I just can’t understand how they managed to turn woke negatively. What’s the alternative sleepy? Aren’t the the same people who say wake up sheeple?

It’s not about the etymology of the word, it’s about how people use it on Twitter. Twitter pits obnoxious assholes against each other and gives their pissing contests an audience. These people pick vaguely defined words to rally around and against, and define them in whatever way is most convenient to them in the moment.

Aren’t the the same people who say wake up sheeple?

Yes, but they have a different set of conspiracies that a different set of authorities are supposedly persecuting them with that everyone who doesn’t uncritically accept can be dismissed as unaware and stupid outsiders. Totally different thing.

When the red pill shit failed they picked up the B side of that A/B test and started railing against knowing the true nature of reality

You’re talking about the party that rails against any and all forms of sympathy. Of course they think it’s bad

It literally used to mean that, but fascists couldn’t have that so they twisted it into something unrecognizable.
