Repost of a previous thread on !ask@lemm.ee: https://discuss.tchncs.de/post/33116369?scrollToComments=true
Just came out of a discussion when someone was arguing that “if everyone here would pay $10-20 per year, the whole platform would be completely different”, but that seemed quite unrealistic to me.
What do you think?
The topic regularly brought up is their political stance https://github.com/dessalines/essays
Personally I think Lemmy is still the most advanced of the 3 platforms. Mbin and Piefed are catching up, but there aren’t there yet
Why are they the most advanced ? Lemmy lacks lot features compared to mbin and piefed. For example the mod board is minimalistic.
As an Mbin user: what are you referring to with “comments view”? I assume that’s not the comments page of threads (because both have that).
On lemmy, we have two view : post view/ comment view.
If you want to get the latest comment on your instance, you click on comment view. So you can join the lastest discussion. Here is an example :

Comment view turn your timeline into a live chat, as mastodon.
Oh, Mbin does have that for domain pages, so it shouldn’t be too hard to implement a general one for Mbin. I think rather than it being a feature Mbin is “behind” on, it’s probably more that it doesn’t fit the vision of the devs and is deliberately kept out.

That could be it. I mostly use it to keep an eye on older threads, not sure how popular of a use case that is
