Just wanted to say it’s a nice initiative!

BTW I stumbled upon this place because the creator (hilliard) responded to one of my comments with “judges you in Zorn”, but the thread was deleted and I have no idea what my comment was 😅

hi! something about rust oil paint :-)
I dont really use zorn though:
    titanium white
    cad yellow/yellow ochre
    cadmium red
    ultramarine blue
burnt umber [and a black for filler] mostly

Oh yeah the thread about rust, in the thread about hobbies with awful people 😋 !

Yeah the zorn palette is kind of boring, but well made for scandinavia (landscapes and people) IMO.

My reduced palett is just burnt sienna and ultramarine (+ white of course, titanium) for skin, with a little bit of alizarin crimson for the cheeks & lips and a little bit of kad yellow if I feel the need for strong sunlight.

And whatever for the eye color.

For black I just mix ultramarine with burnt sienna.

Then again, I fiddle around with some other colors from time to time.

shame they deleted it. the linux bit was hilarious
my black is the same, with a touch of [probably unnecessary] red. I’ll mix up a perfect black, store it in an empty tube, then obsessively cherish it–which is where the filler black comes in :-) I also have other paints, but kind of overly romanticise the limited palette
[oh, and I pinned this post, hope that’s okay. it’s far more welcoming than I could ever be without feeling contrived]

Ha ha I totally understand, it even crossed my mind when I saw those empty (sennelier?) tubes one day.

I like mixing so I usually just take any earthy color + ultramarine, probably because I’m too lazy too.

I love my limited palette, but then I use lots of other colors anyways, it’s good to have a starting point I guess?

          Pinning totally ok!
