Just sharing a link to the webpage that offers a free ebook. I thought it was important for people to know the origin of this book instead of simply linking to the download itself. This book will walk you through the steps of creating your own workbench that is primarily focused on woodworking. Hope it inspires someone to give it a try. Enjoy!
““The Anarchist’s Workbench” is – on the one hand – a detailed plan for a simple workbench that can be built using construction lumber and basic woodworking tools. But it’s also the story of Christopher Schwarz’s 20-year journey researching, building and refining historical workbenches until there was nothing left to improve.”
Nice try FBI
Damn, you got me.
Appears to be a set of three and all three are in free PDF form:

Same author.
Yes but if you post all three at the same time then there’s less conent on this community, which means less opportunities for people to be aware and interact with !books@lemmy.world. ;)
Also the third one is sold out but that’s because they are going to release a new version. That was the last of the 16th printing of that edition. More in the link below!

Digging the style of the author, from the 4th book listed:
“You can use any wood to make a good workbench. Except for wood that is on fire. I do not think that would work. But other than wood on fire, use what- ever you have on hand.”
Haha. Yeah he’s seems like a thoughtful person from what I’ve read and the videos I’ve seen from him. He definitely has a certain sense of humor. It’s nice to see especially since woodworking people tend to be somewhat more serious.
A Schwarz toolchest has become a pretty common project for long-weekend woodworking “sleepaway camps” for people who want to get into hand-tool woodworking. The bench is super nice too, but a much more involved project.
