"Kealy, meanwhile, alluded to starting a new political party. Two seats are needed for official party status in the B.C. legislature. " Imagine a party made of MLA’s who are so repugnant even the Conservatives won’t touch them with a ten foot pole.
Looks like BC’s getting it’s own maga republican party. First-past-the-post hides the extremists like these behind the big tent parties (Selina Robinson is the BC NDP equivalent). As we just saw they hold the party line until they win their seats in the election, now they can do whatever they want.
Do we really want a democracy where people do not see the extremists out in the open by having a near two-party system due to the archaic electoral system we currently employ.
We need proportional representation to have more transparency in our elections. So we can actually see the full range of political beliefs in the legislature. John Rustad is wildly different from Dallas Brodie.

Didn’t Rustad’s conservatives join with another party to try to win the last election? Is it the ‘joiners’ that are now falling out again?
Yup, John Rustad used to be the extremist in BC’s politics at the time when we had the centre ndp and the moderate-right liberals in our legislature.
