    1. The initial agreement would always be a ceasefire. Don’t be daft. Drawing up a peace agreement is extremely difficult and would always take much more time. The ceasefire could be a runup to eventual peace, or it can offer the opportunity to regroup before resuming hostilities. The uncertainty is the issue here. There can be no ceasefire without it.
    2. Zelensky was not invited to the peace talks in Saudi-Arabia, and was expelled from the White House yesterday for suggesting a security guarantee. Apparently desiring that key component is considered “disrespectful”. It is therefore inaccurate to say that Zelensky is refusing diplomacy.
    3. Aside from that, giving up 30 percent of your land to a country that has massmurdered your citizens is a tough ask. Especially, since that 30 percent contains key resources and strategic control of the Black Sea. I would, at a minimum, ask you to put yourself in his shoes. Would you make such a deal? (Again, the main point here is that there is no hope of a lasting without security guarantees, but at a minimum consider that such a deal would be a huge blow to Ukraine).
