    Maybe we can finally let go of our obsession with the USA and forge alliances with better partners that don’t think they are better, chosen by god, or whatever.

      There are no permanent alliances in a multipolar world. The EU is realizing the danger of relying on a stronger partner, when said partner stops thinking of the relationship as an alliance as more as subordination.

        I’ve said it for years now. Our biggest chance of keeping Europe stable is for the EU to federate. It’s not my preferred option in a stable world but we’re no longer in such a world. We know how destructive we can be towards eachother, and we should focus on not letting that happen.
