Yes, let’s never hold political power accountable for not looking out for our interests. We’ll win the climate back by deflating the tyres on trophy housewives’s cars. Yeah that’ll do it, let’s not think of the tow truck they’ll call or the waste tyres that’ll go to landfill.

Seriously the whole “deflate tyres” thing is so acephalous that I’m starting to believe they’re being paid to make climate activists look like idiots.

What did France do? We did the convention citoyenne pour le climat in 2019, but the government ditched all the 149 ideas, like banning ads for SUV. So no, France didnt do enough…

France taxes automobiles in a way that substantially discourages the largest and most polluting ones. Corresponding taxes in the UK are much lower.

Germany does the same. You think you only have to pay a teeny tiny bit of tax and WHAMMO, added CO2 emissions surcharge.

And still far too many people drive compensation vehicles.

It is a weight tax that start around 1700kg if i recall. Just enough that anything bigger than “french sized” SUV has to pay a tax in addition to the CO2 tax.

I know a handful of Marxists that would point out that this shit exists to pit the oppressesed against each other.

As an American: enjoy your oversized vehicles, France. You could nuke us and spend a thousand years and not catch up on emmissions. Don’t fuck each other over.
