The drop obvisouly happened on the release date ?
I did play it, before the official release, and it was fun, chill experience, no BP, like old times.

What happened since ? 🤔

La baisse est évidemment arrivée à la date de sortie ? J’y ai joué, avant la sortie officielle, et c’était une expérience amusante et décontractée, sans BP, comme “avant”.

Qu’est-ce qui s’est passé depuis ? 🤔

I don’t remember hearing about this game when it came out. It’s not my type of game but usually I hear about these games in passing.

1600 daily peak isn’t massive but it’s still very much playable. You’ll have a dozen full servers to play in.

Nothing really happened to Battlebit, but this is what happens when you have a live service game without a huge budget. Slow updates kills a playerbase, and eventually people lose interest. It becomes nigh impossible to gain new users without an ad campaign with I don’t think they have a budget for.

Edit: They also apparently didn’t update the game since February. That’ll do it.

In the communities I’ve seen, people wail in despair over the update that never was and desperately (satirically?) try to convince each other that the update will one day come. It’s funny to see as an outsider, but it hurts as someone who used to love the game.

I also blame the broken sound update, and the focus on class balance changes over new weapons and maps. Even when they did make new maps, they’d often be overhauling a bad, but fun map into a fine, but generic map (new Basra). Imagine if Valve “fixed” 2fort or Dustbowl. I think it’s that bad, given old Basra’s ridiculous sniper battles were a highlight for me.

Was it unbalanced? Absolutely. But it was stupid fun and something no other game had. The choke point in the middle was just a big mosh pit, but it was so much fun because of how people used proximity chat. Helicoptering over the carnage while someone played 70’s rock over radio was part of why that game went viral.

I know the map isn’t removed from the pool entirely, but it speaks to a design philosophy I personally disagree with. Having a couple “bad” but funny maps are more important than having a bunch of okay generic maps. New Wakistan looks to be making the same mistakes (if it’s ever released).

This ended up being long. I played for a couple hundred hours, so I guess I’m passionate about it :).

BattleBit captured the spirit of the older Battlefield games better than 2042 ever could. I had the same exhilarating adrenaline highs playing BattleBit as when I played Battlefield 3. There’s nothing like putting a bunch of C4 onto a car, throwing it at a tank, and blowing it up… and that was an everyday occurrence in previous titles.

Deep Rock Galactic is still actively developed, so there is hope. An indie titanfall-like is in early development too. If boomer shooters can have a revival, so can classic multiplayer…

The last update to the game destroyed the usability of its positional audio among other things. The developers have remained silent on all channels beside their Discord about future game updates or content. The game hasn’t been updated for about a year now.

Additionally, ome people have complained about getting banned from the in-game chat for allegedly “no reason”. No idea if even half of these people are being truthful or were actually banned for things like saying racial slurs.

      That’s a valid argument,
For the second part, i tend to no trust arguments with “no reason” too,

Game hasn’t received an update in what will be a year later this month.

The main dev keeps promising a huge update is in the works but won’t so much as drop a hotfix for obvious flaws in the game currently. They made more than enough money to bring on extra staff but just didn’t.

BUT you can still easily find games most days on the main modes (assuming you live in the US/EU) And the games been left in a pretty decent state.

I’ve clocked in 319hours and still think Battlebit has been the best FPS game we’ve seen in nearly a decade. Which is why it’s so frustrating the way the devs are handling it currently…

Nothing really, we played it for 120h and then moved on to other games. I assume many other players did as well. It’s not a live service game with seasonal content and constant changes or updates. There are no leagues or leader boards so there is no reason to return to the game other than the occasional fun round with others.

But to be honest it’s fine as it is, solid game play and nice maps. Not every game needs to run indefinitely and keep huge numbers of concurrent players. The devs did their thing, showed the world what games should be like and now they earned their retirement. If they come back with updates, good. If they decide to make another banger game, even better. But they don’t have to, if every game is an endless time sink with seasons, battle passes, skins, mtx and fomo built in there would be no exceptional games like we had in the past years.

Also the game is highly dependent on the people you play with, the longer fps games run the better people usually get. Beginners or players with little time get pushed out because there are seasoned gamers that do nothing else than running the best meta weapon and learned all the maps. So for new players the fun declines and veterans keep complaining about the lack of new players.

For me, there is a problem with games being “live service”, U have to just launch your game and enjoy it, like u said. Remember Bf2, bf2142, CSS, etc. No MMR, just a “server browser” and then you join a party.

I regret “old time” where BP and others craps wasnt a thing, with their FOMO,
People just grind now these shits, and dont focus, on what they really like, i feel.

Live service can be awesome if done right and with good enough intentions, but for the most part it’s just about maximizing profits and minimizing effort for the developer / publisher. Add decision made not by lead designers / game directors but excel warriors and we end up with Call of Battlefield: Black Duty 17 Battlepass Edition with optional Subscriber Package.

But this whole situation creates the ideal situation to get gems like baldurs gate 3, battlebit, factorio, even games like cyberpunk stand out of the whole profit maximizing shit show.

They promised a huge update over a year ago that never came. Seems like development has completely stalled. Huge disappointment as this was such an amazing game.

I see, For me its non sense,

You can have updates to fix just bugs, or issues. It’s not mandatory to have new contents each weeks or regularly.

We lose interest in the gameplay with that kind of things.

      My 2 cents,

It would be nonsense were it not for the fact that Battlebit is still in Early Access. Being Early Access implies regular updates and the fact the game technically isn’t released yet. There are still bugs and balance issues in Battlebit that remain unsolved.

You are right that people lose interest but the majority of players wouldn’t have lost interest if updates kept coming to this unfinished game, or at least if the developers kept their promises.

Personally I don’t know now what it means early access. How many game are under early access for a time now ? 😅.

I mean if we want to talk about scams or bad dev, let’s talk about shatterline 😅.

Since this post I’ve read steams forum, it seems dev have to much listen to bad peoples (new comings of cod players ) and I guess now they are lost on their game. They should just have focus on a bf like in my mind.

Oh yeah there are plenty of way worse examples. It’s just such a shame because Battlebit had something going for them and then they messed up like this. Many developers would kill to have a faction of the exposure Battlebit had.

I agree but it’s sadly the new standard for mainstream gamers to be drip fed “content” like crack so if they feel a games lacking behind they go somewhere else to get their easy fix.

I’ve played games for 100s more hours after their last DLC release just because I loved the gameplay. So it makes my eye twitch when my people I know load into a new game and immediately comb over the battlepass n skins to see if it’s “worth their time”

I seem to remember them adding in anti cheat, or something like that on release. I think it didn’t play well with Linux, assuming you were ok with it. I didn’t play though and this is hazy
