Summary

France’s shocking “Affaire Mazan” trial is nearing its conclusion, with 51 men, including Dominique Pelicot, accused of raping his drugged, unconscious wife, Gisèle, between 2011 and 2020.

Dominique admitted to orchestrating the assaults, recruiting men online, and recording the crimes. While some defendants deny knowing she was unconscious, Dominique claims they were fully aware.

Gisèle waived her anonymity to inspire survivors and highlight issues like chemical submission.

The case has sparked national debates on consent and rape laws, with groups advocating legal reforms to align with societal views on consent.

She’s an amazing woman. It must be so hard to go through this in private let alone with all this news coverage.

      Unbelievable resilience.

Reminds me of Emmitt tills mother who chose to have the open casket. Put in a position that would break many but instead use their circumstances to provoke change and draw attention to the monsters among us.

Dunno what it’s like in France, but if this was the US, this woman would be receiving daily death and rape threats from conservatives.

Same in France. As do the people (mostly women ofc, most men are too busy explaining that “not all men”) who publicly support her on the internet.
