As an American who doesn’t read your weird Euro numbers, I’m going to assume that means you get a 15 square mile apartment for $30.

Don’t know where those numbers come from, it is illegal in France to rent something that is less than 9m2.

Sadly landlords (read: leeches) still thinks that illegal doesn’t mean illegal for themselves.

        From experience. It’s 9m2, or 20m3 habitable :)

Oh, It’s also illegal to kill someone and to buy drugs, would love to hear your opinion on that

EDIT: those are numbers from my past. Nowadays it’s more like 400€ for 9m2 or 10m2, with shower inside your room.

No one is forcing you to buy drugs, kill someone or accept an illegal contract.

Living in the street isn’t that bad anyway

Given these conditions are illegal, such offers are rare on mainstream platforms (and should be reported). I highly doubt the only choices are 500€/7m2 or the street.
