I dont think that would immediately help anybody. The ides might have been to have the capacity to restart production and somebody needed to make someone else cough up more money so the “save humanity” line was added. You’d need to grow the seeds after figuring out where in the world is now suitable for them, if that place exists at all after climate change.

Best bet would have been for us to hold these megacorps responsible back in the 70s. Everything we’ve done since then has been band aids and wishful thinking, as well as quite a bit of bilging the water back into the boat.
