It didn’t back in the day, either. People thought he was the white face for a black singer.

I mean, with today’s tech you could make him sound like Janet Jackson if you wanted… His voice is auto tuned as fuck in that song.

Autotune can only do so much, dude.

You’re really showing a lack of knowledge of “today’s technology” by saying it could “make someone sound like Janet Jackson”, and clearly aren’t aware that the brand name of the most popular technology is one word. You probably weren’t even aware Autotune is a brand name - from Antares. The type of technology is called pitch correction.

Yes, and they also can only do so much before sounding like shit. Even Melodyne makes you sound like a robot if pushed too far. If you hear a singer and they don’t sound downright unnatural, they probably actually sounded something like that on the song, just less perfect.

I mean… His voice doesn’t sound natural at all in this song in my opinion, but hey, good for you if you enjoy that.

Man, way to make it personal for absolutely no reason. This doesn’t have to devolve to a battle of opinions. I produce music myself, I know what I’m hearing. And I’m hearing very little in the way of pitch correction or formant shifting. What type of editing are you hearing?
