Depending on where you live, you can borrow ebooks from regional libraries. In my case, those are veeeeeeery many and also they can mostly be stripped of DRM.

I think instead of open access, maybe we should shift as a collective of scientists to fully open papers and also review processes. What are the advantages of publishing a paper in an expensive journal instead of as institution, or through a public institution.

They want that. It’s a sad truth, but we need to accept it. America is lost, the people of america are lost. This is a failed state. And globally, the quicker this state goes down, the better the world becomes for everyone else.

By paying requirements I mean, that at least the German government sometimes still provides documents in Microsoft formats using macros, templates and design features, that are not supported by open source, or free alternatives.

In my opinion, every document provided by a city, a state, a country, should be available in the least expensive way and it is really no big hustle to turn MS stuff into open formats.

Regarding the HTML problem, I think everything can suck hard, if someone wants it to or doesn’t care. But honestly I myself don’t know how to address that in a useful way except for annoying people until they do things right.

What I am much more taking issues with, is the use of proprietary file formats like the MS ones.

I maybe am overly critical, but in my opinion, public access should be access without any redundant payment requirements.

I’m from non UK Europe and from what I found, the only options for me to get are injections and spray and I can’t use injections because of fear of needles.

If allowed to ask/answer, any idea on how to get gel (my preferred method following my research) in my region?

The doctor part is a problem … Will need to wait over 6 months until I can get approval.
