Paper ballots matter if there is a trusted chain of custody and reliable mechanism to count them. It is looking less and less like that will be the case.

It says there is a correlation between homophobia and sexual arousal from homosexual visual stimulus. I’m not sure what you mean?
This study kind of illustrates it may be true. It’s not a huge sample size, but its difficult to deny there is at least a significant correlation.
So its not entirely just a stereotype. They have done studies on it, and it holds remarkably true. I’ll see if I can find one of them for you.
Edited to add a link to the study: Homophobia study
There is no enforcement. The mayor said federal agents would not be arrested, and the city would basically just sue the federal government for breaking the law.
He said they would fight it in the courts. And we have seen how much respect they have for the judiciary and legal process.
This only works if they are willing to enforce it. So they would need to order and get CPD on board with arresting ICE agents. And as much as I would love to see that happen, police tend to be the biggest bootlickers of them all.
Even the mayor stated federal agents wouldn’t be arrested for violating this. So it is just pointless and performative.
I have a secret for you. We are society. So let’s normalize big pond orgies!
Protest art on the national mall isn’t a new thing. So I’m not sure why it surprising that a bureaucrat did their job when presented with a legal request?
It’s possible the president will be a giant man baby and order it removed again, but that doesn’t really have anything to do with the request and approval process.
Not necessarily. They could be selling at a loss in order to gain goodwill. It could also be in the hope that tax incentives return to limit the duratiom of losses. Though it’s almost certain that the MSRP could have been lower since companies don’t tend to leave profits on the table.
I really hate clickbaity headlines. It didn’t mysteriously reappear.
The group that installed it the first time had the statue returned to them after it was removed. They restored it since it was damaged during removal. They then put in another application to have it displayed on the mall, and after that was approved they installed it the same as last time.
All of this is in the article, and calling it mysterious is just misleading and stupid.
You should check out the game Wandering Village. Its not bees and snails, but you do build a village on a giant beast that you can feed.
The fact that Diggy Diggy Hole exists is such a wonderful thing. It was fun to watch the original, and then various evolutions of it. Its what the internet should be instead of the corporate, pay to play garbage we have ended up with.
Also Powerwolf and Wind Rose are just fun bands to listen to. Metal that doesn’t take itself too seriously of great.
It seems like your familiarity with the Taliban is based around their actions post US imperialist action. They were originally formed to combat the spread of corruption in Afghanistan, and were based on Pashtun nationalism and religious fundamentalism. They did significantly more than just carry out military action.
I’m not saying there are no differences, but I do think it is worthwhile to examine the similarities. And only looking at what the Taliban did in response to invasion ignores a large portion of their history, and largely misses the beliefs and goals of the founders.
The Taliban didn’t start as a resistance movement fighting invaders. It was a faction from the Afghan civil war, and fought against other Afghan factions like the Northern Alliance.
So it is an extremist religious faction that fought for influence against more moderate groups. And the ‘religious’ foundations and messaging makes it a relevant comparison to make. Especially since the playbook used by American Christian nationalists shares many similarities with that of other extremist religious groups, including Islamic groups like the Taliban
Well…shit. Good to know.
Anyone know if Tidal is affiliated with genocide, Russian oligarchs, or other atrocities? Or if there are other better options?
Deezer does have podcast integration, though I haven’t used it for that yet.
Bandcamp is probably the best for the artists. If you want something more similar to spotify, Deezer and Tidal both pay artists better than Spotify if I remember correctly. And neither of them have done anything like platforming Joe fucking Rogan. Though it’s possible that they have done something terrible that I missed. At least a good place to start looking.
Like degen said, switch is if you do both dom and sub.
WSL is the windows subsystem for Linux. It lets you run Ubuntu terminal in Windows. So it would ultimately be running on windows. Though that feels like it would be more complex than running a macOS VM.
