22·18 hours agoYou are welcome to spoon feed all of the linus fans with the flavour of the month distro"s, or now I guess with steam os. Less than 5% of them will be worth it. It’s very ironic to end up at linux due to someone like linus.

An email and vpn provider promoting themselves as privacy conscious, and then developing ai should set off alarm bells. I was previously a customer of proton (email and vpn), you don’t have to pay attention to their products, social media, and customer service for long to realise that marketing is their strong point. Purple-washing may become a term for faux privacy companies in future.
“Given that many of us use Proton services and are privacy conscious” ~ oxymoron
Thank you Safing I have not heard of. ivpn not great for southern hemisphere (but do appear ethical) Tor I haven’t looked into for a long time I looked into nym not long ago and left myself this note ‘Pricey if doing per month, not if doing for year. Lack of transparency, shit website. Dodgy feel.’
Which 2 did he recommend?
There are definitely not plenty of them.
Airvpn and ivpn are the only ones that cone across as ethical to me now. No idea re: details since I have not used either of them (yet).
Time will tell, the industry is based on paid ‘reviews’, and manipulation. There is little reason for any of them to pretend to be ethical, the biggest companies definitely aren’t. Mullvad are likely to feel this though, since they most likely have a more ethical user base than the competition. Airvpn and ivpn are no doubt gaining new customers.
They really don’t get it, it is very disappointing, but they deserve to fail now. 99% of the VPN industry is dodgy, mullvad now included.

31·3 days agoWe gotta get out of this place…

I’m happy for linus to send his zombies to distro’s (other than what I use), but they will just annoy people on forums etc, and blame linux after they use ai to f*ck it all up. You can only watch trashtubers for so long without clearly being trash yourself. We all start somewhere, and internet searches push people towards the biggest/trashiest channels, but anyone who is genuinely interested in tech, and wants it to improve in meaningful ways, will soon move on from linus et al.
No doubt KDE appreciates the shout out for being “viable” …
