fun fact for anyone wondering: lots of mods work in multiplayer without requiring everyone to install it, including the walking speed mod. i think the time speed mod does, too. this lets you avoid having to walk a non-technical player through modding their game if you just want to play.

write a bash script that rsyncs your keepass database to your other devices and run it once in a while. i have seen way too many online password vaults get hacked to ever bother with them.

github had (has?) free pro accounts for students back when github didn’t offer private repos for free. if you forgot to cancel your student account when you graduated, github would simply hold your private repos hostage unless you paid for them. no option given to simply make them public repos. i would have lost mountains of my work had they not fucked up and unlocked my repos for a couple hours, which allowed me to clone everything i didn’t have locally and migrate to gitlab.

so basically, sometimes those student offers build in scam tactics.

this is similar to the reason why you shouldn’t enable Do Not Track in your browser: it’s simply ignored and it becomes another datapoint to fingerprint you.
