Why does it have to smell so awful? I could handle the taste and texture if it didn’t reek so bad.

What a bait and switch. They got my hopes up for a second there.

Impressive. I love seeing all the progress on Godot even if I might not use specific features like this.

Yeah, this wasn’t someone on the way out with nothing to lose. This was a kid who just won a $10,000 scholarship and could very well have it pulled for this. Very brave.

This is a good argument for large graze-fed animals on semi-arid land. It would allow for maximizing calorie extraction per square meter.

But beyond that the paper doesn’t really hold up. They’re using a few tricks to prop it up:

• Comparing protein of wheat to beef instead of calories, or instead of a more protein-dense plant.
• They are basing their numbers only on Australian land that works for ungulate grazing but would require terraforming to be usable for planting. There are other areas like this (grazing goats in parts of Mexico significantly reduces emissions compared to crop irrigation and growing), but in the US the vast majority of beef is grain fed.
• The paper acknowledges that grain-finishing alters their numbers, but doesn’t actually tell us how much. The paper is very skimpy on data to begin with, and seems to be intentionally avoiding it when it would hurt the thesis.
• A lot of the heavy lifting is done by the mouse plagues. Again, this is Australia-specific. Any grain fed animal farming still poisons mice to keep them out of the feed. If you take the mouse plagues out of the equation it seems like the numbers would not be persuasive, but again their math isn’t laid out well enough to figure it out.

The paper doesn’t really advertise that the conclusion is Australia-specific, which makes it easy for those in other regions to pick it without reading it. It’s a good conclusion in specific circumstances, but for any grain fed animals it’s intentionally misleading.

Florida? I had the same experience, but probably not with the same dude.

An unmedicated cook? Inconceivable.

I legitimately think this would work if he tried. Republicans obviously don’t dare to cross him, Democrats seem to be rolling over faster than ever, and we citizens are so terrified of our military being turned on us that we wouldn’t do anything about it.

I think he should try it if for no other reason than to have a hilarious endcap on our nation for the history books.

The movie gets panned a lot, but I liked it.

From the headline I thought this was a newsroom using source control / software development management tools to organize and archive interviews.

Very disappointed to learn it’s just exploitation.

I checked out their feed since I figured I must have missed a big burst of bad content, but I don’t see anything misandrist. I see a few posts critical of certain men, but even that’s the minority of content.

Even going through comments I see only a healthy amount of misandry. I don’t see any organizing of violence against all men, or even normalizing of it.

If you’re feeling triggered by the things you see in a space meant for an oppressed class to vent then I think you’re just too sensitive.

Animorphs is the book series that taught me what war crimes and PTSD were without using either of those phrases specifically. It’s crazy that I read it as a child, but it honestly helped me understand my dad a bit better.

Crazy to see another Everworld fan. I loved that series, but never got the last book. I should see if I can find it.

I think the art could have been a nice change of pace. And orangutan Aramaki could have been funny. But just from the trailer I’m seeing a lot of fan service, so I’m guessing the full movie will be even worse. The other movies certainly didn’t shy away from it, but with a change in art style I was hoping for one adaptation that wasn’t pandering to horny folks.
