Some other lawsuits to prevent obviously illegal things have been thrown out because they hadn’t actually done the illegal things yet. Recently one of the lawsuits against the EO to have the post office selectively deliver ballots got thrown out for that (by a Republican judge).

Most of these people promoting the “secret Nazi” idea also didn’t know what a SS totenkopf was before the story broke. It’s an obscure symbol that looks like a lot of common symbols, not a swastika.

On the topic of bad history schooling, I don’t think my high school required history classes even made it to WW2. I feel like we covered the period from the pilgrims to the Civil War year after year though.

Did you even know what traits separated a totenkopf from any other skull and crossbones before this scandal? And your hypothesis is that sometime in those 17 years his Jewish family recognized it, told him, and he said “nah, I’ll keep it”? The secret Nazi theory just doesn’t make any sense.

The reality is the totenkopf is a relatively obscure symbol, is similar to popular benign symbols, and tattoos blur over time. That’s why he got through the military tattoo reviews.

To add to this complaining about Star Wars became a good opportunity to ease into social reactionary rhetoric without starting the conversation at “all media should be crafted to appeal to and elevate white men”. It’s basically just GamerGate tactics repeated. The surface criticism is just a lure to try to convert unhappy young men to overt misogyny.

It’s pretty hard when you have to also account for extra printing to conceal the item. You can render a result, but if it just looks like a box with convenient breakaway pieces that snap to leave behind just the part, you’ll need some more complex work than simple pattern matching. And even then each piece of a gun isn’t a really a unique shape only used for firearms.
