Perception is more powerful than reality. You think the tankman from china actually accomplished much. But he is still a symbol today.

Which is why when the tech support didn’t want to file a ticket, I pushed for it to be filed. The product managers make the decision, and if they don’t see tickets it doesn’t exist.

It isn’t like the 8 guys could tell anyone after they got on the plane. Even if they did, it isn’t a “length to which the gov will goto” because it did nothing to impact what they could do at all. Probably some AI slop

Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Firefox is fine. The people running it are notEnglish3·3 days agoI talked to tech support once, they said it won’t get fixed, and there was no workaround. It was a platform type site. So I’m not their direct custom. A small business is. And the people at the small business have never heard of firefox. So they don’t even understand the problem.

I thought it was supposed to be all chromium under the hood, but somehow it’s different. And companies don’t test firefox, nor care.

Stuff like medical record portals, financial websites for my companies retirement plan. Stuff I have little choice about. And most fail silently. They don’t say it is the browser. I don’t know how they are doing it, but google is winning the fight.

Sorry guys, no one else can do it.2·4 days agoI think he believes, like I do, that a general strike is not going to happen right now. If he were to call for it, and it fails to happen, he loses a lot of his influence. And most people aren’t willing to put thier livelihood on the line yet. As for unions… they are already on the up swing. More and more places are unionizing. I don’t think that effort needs his help at the moment. But I could be wrong on that.

Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Texas flash floods kill more than 100 people as more victims expected63·5 days agoI know people want to pin this on trump, but I don’t see it. The nation system did what it usually does. Now maybe it should have done more. But that would be on not just trump, but the administrations that preceeded him too. Like why did so many people not get the alert? That isn’t a new problem, but one that isn’t getting solved.
The rest of the blame is local. Texas does run away from regulations. And clearly anyone housing children in a flood plain should have some regulations to keep those kids safe. Maybe they exist but weren’t enforced, I dunno.
No child deserved to die before they had a chance to decide thier own idealogy as an adult.
Cheering for the adults who died is no better than cheering a out ICE raids. Neither targeted “bad” people.
Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.worldtoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•To those in countries where democracy might last another election - **harm reduction is not optional**11·6 days agoI do agree that on average, people are generally good. But over time, groups or cliches always form. And it takes very few bad people to trigger group preservation mentality. The larger the group, the greater the odds you will have some ambitious or just plain evil people who can manipulate the group. That ability towork together is actually what makes this possible. As for rape. Take 3 guys and 2 girls for 90 days. 1 or 2 will probably end up getting laid regularly. The other guy or guys will start to resent that. It’s evelution again. Guys are driven internally to mate. It causes them to do a lot of stupid things. That is a big part of why rape happens today. There are countless examples in the real world, not books and movies.
You need look no further than trump. He used hate and group elitism to get elected. Many of the people who voted for him didn’t even hate the immigrants in thier town, and were suprised when they got arrested. They weren’t evil people, they just succumbed to the group preservation instinct.
And for the otherside you have luigi. People who would never kill another person support him for killing a CEO because CEOs and the rich are a distinct different group.
How is asking a question sharing facts? If you had facts, you would have linked them. You clearly don’t.
