24·21 hours agoPeople can change their views but the straw that broke the Camel’s back thing makes me think less that they have really grown or changed as a person and are alligned with the same world views, hopes, dreams, and goals, as me and more that they will jump off the bandwagon and go back to their shitty views as soon as someone more “moderate” comes along on their side.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Watch These Judges Rip Into Lawyers For Citing Cases That Don't Exist
35·4 days agoI want real consequences for this stuff. It’s great that they are getting chastized but this stuff needs to result in disbarment or the like. In engineering if you put a PE stamp on something that isn’t to standard or if you are found guilty of ethical violations you don’t get to keep practicing as a PE. The same standard needs to be applied to other professions. Citing a fake case is a fucking huge ethical violation and malpractice, and needs to be treated as such.

politics @lemmy.world•Texas Democrat James Talarico May Be on Track to Turn the Lone Star State Blue
4·5 days agoThere is a great line in the book “The Right Stuff” that says basically that. Houston was a hellhole in the 50s and all that which made ot that way has gotten worse or not gone away since then. All the mercury and dioxins are still in the silt in the San Jascinto river or Galveston Bay, or in your fresh gulf shrimp (sponsored by BP and TransOcean)

8·5 days agoThere is next to 0 public land in Texas too, people like to compare it to the western states and its just wrong. The state of small government (for corporations and civil protections)

Solarpunk DIY@piefed.social•Scientists Were Wrong About How Fast Solar Panels Degrade - They May Last Twice as LongEnglish
3·5 days agoThe degredation also really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Its not like you have to throw the panel away when it loses efficiency and we aren’t talking about them being half as efficient in 5 years anyways. Modern charge/balance controllers and micro inverters handle voltage differences easily.

Backstabbed receptacles are everywhere in my current house, they have all been loose when I went to replace them with modern style. That’s a house fire waiting to happen.

The rit synthetic fabric dye works on some plastics as well. I originally got that to use on my gamecube controller port cover and figured why not try it here. I did the purple one first, and when it turned out more pink colored I tried adding the black since I wanted a more olive green color.
The ultrasonic cleaner was just because it had the ability to heat the fluid inside and maintain the temperature rather than boiling and letting it cool down. I am curious if running the ultrasonics would have made a difference in how well the dye was mixed but I didn’t test that.
I don’t have any additional resources, I learned about this stuff on youtube from a guy who was doing a wii shell. I’ll see if I can find the link.
