  • Not about some things, no.

This isn’t your fault, but is because an awful lot of people are simply fucking stupid, and will read it at face value.

Other people then have to expend great effort to explain the details of why it was only a joke, to someone who can’t count to ten, with their fingers to count on.

This has to be done because fucking stupid people get to vote too, and they take jokes as serious info.

  • I’ve found an acid test for susceptibility to VR sickness. Driving in VR.

Most brains know what it feels like to be in a car, in control or otherwise. Feed in only the visuals of “being in a car” and watch the face turn green in tandem with the brain’s ancient “we’ve eaten poison!” subroutine kicking in.

In Elite: Dangerous, I can pirouette a Vulture round an asteroid field -permaboosting with flight assist off- shooting other ships all day long. Drop an SRV onto a moon and drive 100 metres, pass me the sick bucket.

I put this down to having plenty sensory memory of “car” but none of “high velocity space fighter”.

Elite: Dangerous. 1300 hours and counting.

Frontier are an absolute shitcake of a company, and David Braben is a greedy motherfucker. The game is a mile wide and an inch deep, with some fucknasty game mechanics and grinds.

Despite all that and more, nothing I’ve played so far in my 44 years on this earth is quite as fucking cool an experience. It works well with all my simrig peripherals including the TrackIR, which helps the experience a lot I will admit. But still, it has it’s moments.

You missed our Lord and Saviour Omnifixo from your list.

In my 30+ years of soldering, never has a “helping hands” been worth the effort, until now. No, I’m not on commission. Yes, they’re worth the asking price.

Made building whoops a genuine pleasure. Both my whoops are soldered motors and cameras, with e6000 glued solder connections, and everything conformal coated. Absolute doddle with the Omnifixo holding everything.

Yeah, you’ve most likely managed to flex the AIO and partially pop off part of the VTx. A hot air solder tool can be used to carefully reflow stuff like this, but it takes a bit of finesse to not blow shit off when solder melts.

Reflow ovens are another option, but beyond most of us.

I built two 65mm whoops a few weeks ago, both with matrix II AIOs in em, one on RCinPower 0702 31800kV with triblades, the other on HM 0702 26000kV and biblades.

They’ve both taken enough abuse to break two canopies and a frame without complaint. If anything, the rcinpower motors are the weak spot, some of them shed their circlips and therefore the bells a little easily.
